Pilot Program of the Physician in Charge of Health of Persons with Disabilities
Program purposes
Enabling persons with disabilities to receive continuous and comprehensive healthcare from a physician in are of residence, thereby increasing the management of chronic disease and preventing secondary disabilities
Periods of the pilot program
The first pilot program was operated between May 2018 and May 2020, while the second pilot program has been started in June 2020.
Program beneficiaries
The program is targeted to persons with severe disabilities, according to Article 16 of the 「Act on Guarantee of Right to Health and Access to Medical Services for Persons with Disabilities」 Article 5 of the Enforcement Decree of the said Act.
Types of services
Three types of services are provided according to the program as follows
- 1) General healthcare : Management of chronic diseases and disabilities in clinics, regardless of disability types
- 2) Disability related care : Specialized management for persons with physical, brian lesion, and visual disabilities, by physicians in clinics, hospitals, and general hospitals (excluding long-term care hospitals and tertiary general hospitals)
- 3) Comprehensive healthcare : Management of chronic diseases and specialized care for persons with physical, brian lesion, and visual disabilities by physicians in clinics
Education and training courses
National Rehabilitation Center (Central Health & Medical Center for Persons with Disabilities) is in charge of providing education programs to physicians and visiting nurses. To participate in this pilot program, physicians and nurses are necessary to complete the online education program at https://mydoctor.kohi.or.kr

Pilot Program of the Dentist in Charge of Health of Persons with Disabilities
Program purpose
Promote the dental health of persons with disabilities by engaging in regular management and preventive dental healthcare. This program aims to continually and comprehensively provide dental care services for persons with disabilities, such as fluoride application, scaling, and dental health education.
