Symposium Background

  • As the nations of the world enter aging societies, the elderly population is steadily increasing.
  • The demand for rehabilitation services is increasing worldwide.
  • The fourth industrial revolution is likely to be affected the rehabilitation of people with disabilities(PWD).
  • The Republic of Korea is in the process of enacting laws on the right to health and health care accessibility for PWD.
  • The government of the Republic of Korea is dealing with an aging society strengthening R&D and promoting rehabilitation-related industries such as ‘Rehabilitation Robot’.
  • Interdisciplinary information exchange and international cooperation on the health care for PWD and rehabilitation research are needed.

Symposium Introduction

The International Symposium on Rehabilitation Research is an event that promotes information exchange and international cooperation on the health promotion of disabled people and rehabilitation research with experts at home and abroad in the fields of rehabilitation research, rehabilitation medicine and rehabilitation policies.

In order to improve the quality of life and health of the disabled, The Korea National Rehabilitation Research Institute has been holding "International Symposium on Rehabilitation Research" on various topics about the latest issues and trends in rehabilitation research and the rehabilitation policies every year since 2009, one year after its establishment.
